create and control configurable subgroups for selective device control
Create configurable sub groups within groups to allow users to control a set of devices based on type to better manage large numbers of devices.
This improves user experience for managing devices in groups (rooms) and groups within rooms. Currently Alexa organises switches and lights separately but you cannot ask alexa to turn off only lights in a room as part of that subgroup
I cannot ask alexa to turn off 'lounge room lights' without it turning off the switches in the same room/group.
If we can create and submit commands to devices as part of sub groups, we can control fans, blinds, switches, and lights as subgroups in a room giving users a more natural experience of how to interact with alexa.

Currently, the way to do this would be to create a routine for turning on/off the lights you want. But I wish it was easier.

I'm new to Alexa and I really can't believe that this isn't available out of the box. I'd like to have a group named Upstairs and a subgroup named 'Kids' Bedrooms'. This would allow me to to turn of just the kids' lights when they've gone to sleep but leave mine on, whilst also be able to turn off the entire upstairs lights with the 'Upstairs' group.

This would make life significantly easier.
No more walking into the living room, saying lights on and turning the whole house on.
Would let you do zones too, if I just want a lamp in The living room on I could do it.
