Add location awareness setting to Alexa
Currently for visitors, they have to know specific location names in order to use Alexa functionlaity correctly. e.g. simply saying "turn off lights/music" would be too ambiguous, or would result in all lights/music in the house turning off.
Add location awareness to Alexa so that, for instance when saying "turn off lights" or "play music on Sonos", Alexa can be configured to only apply the command to devices that are located the room in which that particular Alexa unit is actually located.

Thank you for submitting an Alexa Skills Feature Request. We are happy to inform you that the feature you have requested has launched!

This already works. Create a group and put the Echo and lights in that room in the group. Then say "turn lights on" and the echo turns on all the lights in the group.

Would be useful for Skills such as Harmony that utilities Scenes for TV Channels, if a user has multiple hubs they can currently only invoke scenes from one Harmony hub per household

I wish she would turn off "all" lights, as you say... She can't even do that! Instead she asks which lights you want? And even if you say "ALL", she still doesn't get it, she comes back to say she didn't find a device called "all". So much for artificial "intelligence"...
It cannot be that difficult. When I'm in the living room and say lights on, i mean the living room lights. What else would I mean? Duh! And she can identify that I'm in the living room, because that's where the speaker I'm speaking to her is located! It's simple programming, not rocket science...

...and for this to work properly (beyond the current Group functionality), Alexa needs to intelligently resolve device names inside of a Group. If a Group is called Bedroom 1, and the smarthome device is called "Bedroom 1 Bedside Lamp", Alexa should react to "turn on the Bedside Lamp", without requiring one to say "Alexa turn on the Bedroom 1 Bedside Lamp." The current implementation of Groups is very very basic. This small change would have dramatic impact.

I had submitted a version of this idea a few days ago, but didn't see this one. I have voted on your idea and apologize for duplication.

This is exactly what I am looking for. This, and the ability to separate by Address as well. I have Alexa Devices in multiple rooms and multiple houses, and location / address context would make a huge difference. With this feature, Alexa really does become the "house of the future" we've all seen in Sci-Fi movies!
