  2. Currently the test simulator doesn't play the audios that come back from the skill so we can't confirm they're working OK. Please include this feature and make the sounds included in the responses to be played in the simulator.

  3. Automatic Skill Activation

This is really a must for Alexa to have scheduled skill invocation without voice command ... please make it happen!

  4. Invocation Name requirements should list that you cannot use connecting words and list those words when selecting an invocation name.

  5. People think differently how to describe what they want, and so they have many different ways to verbalize slots. Currently, to account for those different words, the developer would have to manually come up with those variations. Either though their imagination or by manually asking people to interact with the skill. These are great methods, but they are slow and very localized.

It would be great to have some tool, like a built-in mass user testing tool or even a built in synonym recommendation tool.

  6. Validate invocation name, so that no 2 developments skills are able to have the same invocation name. When testing a skill in the test console, it was actually returning results from a different skill as they had identical invocation names

  7. Some developers are experiencing high hosting costs after building skills our customers love. For instance, skills that use audio or video in their skills can get bills in the thousands of dollars. As a result these developers host their skills outside of AWS. We should provide a hosting service for media that is used in Alexa skills. Perhaps we can have some kind of special CORS config that is billed at a free or cheaper rate than non-Alexa skill media? This would encourage the creation of skills with rich media like multi-modal features.

  8. Right now the only way to be removed as a member from other's people dev portal accounts is that an admin remove you, but I should be able to self-remove my account in some part of the https://developer.amazon.com website.

Thanks for the suggestion, Octavio! We’ll get this routed over to the appropriate internal team for review.

  9. I want the reminder API to be able to launch skills via Skill Connections, like the timer API.

    For example
    1. The reminder rang.
    2. Alexa Skill has launched.
    3. Alexa said. Did you do it?
    4. User said. Did not do.
    5. Alexa said. Then when do you do it?
    6. User said. 3 days later. / 5 days later. / others. (Irregular)
    7. Alexa Skill has set a new reminder.

I want to create such skills.

  10. Have AMAZON.Number accept decimal points in user verbal input. Right now, it handles 'minus' or negative numbers, but not when there is a decimal point.

  11. ISP requires a "purchase"-intent to be available in the interaction model, currently every developer implements his own "purchase"-intent with his own utterances. This is not user friendly, as a user cannot rely on being able to use learned utterances from "skill A" in "skill B". So my idea is a new standard built-in "PurchaseIntent".

  12. "Alexa turn on my "alarm group name"

Alexa could respond "Okay ive turned on your alarms in the "group name" group

Alarms could be added or removed from groups with voice command

And they could also be managed from the alarms and timers section of the alexa app.

(This would be best for individuals who tend to sleep through a first or second alarm)

Possible expansion on this idea is we could have alarm sounds by group or specify the sound for each alarm to give some different noises in case one sound doesnt wake us up another different sound…

  13. Create an earcon tag for high-quality short-form assets (earcons) such as sonic logos, UX/UI sounds, mnemonics, and jingles. This <earcon> tag should differ from others in that it should support a higher sample rate/bit rate with a restricted length.

The <audio> tag can support up to 240 seconds, whereas the average <earcon> is only 1-5 seconds long. With a sample rate of 24 kHz and a bit rate of 48 kbps for a full 240 seconds, the size of the compressed audio file would be 1.44 MB. Conversely, with a 5 second <earcon> tag, 1.44 MB could theoretically allow for…

  14. For SmartHome-Skills & German language, there has IMHO been no progress within the last 6 months. Undocumented non-support for certain languages e.g. for scheduling with ThermostatController is a No-Go. My preferred shortlist for german language support expansion: 1) Scheduling, 2) Sensors (Liters, Watt, kWh, mm etc.) to query all kind of numbers.

  15. I'd very much like my son (11 yrs) to be able to communicate w/Alexa.
He's not an Eng as a mother tongue (native) speaker, as am I ;-)
Regrettably, his command of the English lang is as a 3-4 yrs.
    I'd like that Alexa would:
    1) Speak A Lot (!) Slower?
    2) Reply A Lot (!) more accessible ("lower" English "level")?

  16. If a company has multiple Alexa devices all under one account. My skill would be used commercially where a customer would go to one Alexa device and then trigger something in another Alexa device in another room.

  18. Currently an Alexa response includes permission scopes for "payments:autopayconsent" and "alexa::devices:all:geolocation:read" if the Skill manifest requests those permissions. The status will either be "GRANTED" or "DENIED". If "DENIED" the Skill can request the user enable the permission. However, for all other permissions such as "alexa:devices:all:address:countryandpostalcode:read" or "read::alexa:device:all:address", there is no permission scope provided and the only way to check for the permission is to actually attempt an operation that requires the permission and see if it fails. I would like to request that all permissions requested by a Skill be included in the permission scopes as…
