Alexa Skills - Developer Voice And Vote

Welcome to the Alexa Skills UserVoice site!

This site enables Alexa Skill Developers to request and vote on features you'd like to see in the developer toolset and services for Alexa.

Please bear in mind that this site is for Alexa skill builders, not Alexa users. Additionally, we cannot guarantee each feature request will be implemented but our team reviews each request and sends to the appropriate product teams.
For more information about using UserVoice, please see our blog post here: [Vote on developer features you would like to see at Alexa Skills Kit User Voice]

  1. It's pretty critical to be able to upload a file to generate a custom slot. We have a couple slots with many hundreds of values and hand building a new slot would be a huge undertaking across all the language types. This flat out won't work for us.

  3. In the notification "Beta test for Alexa skill is complete" please include the respective skill name. We have many skills in development at at any given time and it's really annoying to look through all of them and check which one expired.

  4. Right now the process of adding a new language to an existing skill in the developer console is tedious, especially when the data for those languages is exactly identical.

For example, right now, the process for manually copying things on the Publishing Information tab (Launch tab on the new console) alone involves tabbing back and forth 12 different times between the two languages to copy the text from the six different fields. For an English language skill being released worldwide, that process has to be done 4 times (and that's only going to grow).

Making things worse, in the new…

Thank you for submitting an Alexa Skills Feature Request.
To expand the distribution of your skill to more locales, you can opt in to automated locale distribution. If you opt in, when you submit your skill we assess whether your skill is eligible for distribution to all locales of a given language. For example, if you support English (US), automated locale distribution can enable your skill to support additional locales like English (UK) and English (India). Please refer to the following page for more information:
    https://developer.amazon.com/en-US/docs/alexa/devconsole/launch-your-skill.html#opt-in-to-automated-locale-distribution
  5. Allow for the creation and pasting of intent schema and sample utterance in the style of the old console. Provide a box to write sample utterances and intent schema into in the old style.

  6. In alexa-hosted, we can use S3 as persistent adapter although Iin self hosting, DynamoDB seems most popular. but S3 free tier such as 2000 PUTs per month per account is too small as persistent storage and it is totally difficult to use S3 as DB instead of DynamoDB.

  7. Just a bit of feedback on the certification process before an Alexa Skill gets published.
It now takes 5 business days.
My skill failed two test cases so after correcting it and re-submission on the same business day I am assuming it will take another 5 business days for certification after re-submission.

So I would like to suggest that as part of developer.amazon.com a suite of automated test cases can be run by developers as part of submission so that they immediately get a test report which also goes to the Alexa Skill Certification Team.
    This will reduce the developer…

  9. It is sometimes difficult to find the latest development information. New content is being posted all the time whether in support or on github or in a blog. The blog emails which use to come regularly are now few and far between. It is harder to keep current without continually searching for new information and documentation. One place for updates with link to content would be great. Perhaps on the home page of the developer's console.

  11. When displaying an error of 'Invalid category. Error code: SkillManifestError' it would be incredibly useful to find out what actually is wrong. This error is proving impossible to solve and will result in the skill having to be deleted and rewritten.

  12. It seems you fix an error and you go BACK to the beginning of the "in review" que?

Is there one skill ahead of me? One thousand?

Who knows ANYTHING about the process?

Thank you for submitting an Alexa Skills Feature Request.

As a developer, you can now track the progress of your skill within the developer console. Under the "Certification" tab, you can see when the skill was last submitted, the status, and an estimate of when the results should be available.

  13. Hi. It would be nice if we could toggle between the different supported languages in the Test tab. Currently you need to go back to the build tab, switch languages, then go back to test tab.

  14. Put submission history on the portal. Having this only in email is not the best way to communicate as multiple developers are often working on apps.

  15. Please show the name of the Skill that I'm currently editing. It's nerve-racking to not get visual confirmation of which skill I'm editing when I have multiple Skills. Thanks!
