Alexa Skills - Developer Voice And Vote

Welcome to the Alexa Skills UserVoice site!

This site enables Alexa Skill Developers to request and vote on features you'd like to see in the developer toolset and services for Alexa.

Please bear in mind that this site is for Alexa skill builders, not Alexa users. Additionally, we cannot guarantee each feature request will be implemented but our team reviews each request and sends to the appropriate product teams.
For more information about using UserVoice, please see our blog post here: [Vote on developer features you would like to see at Alexa Skills Kit User Voice]

  1. While the Interaction Path in the dev console is very handy it does not include APL interactions. More than half my users use the Show and I'd like to see what buttons they press.

  2. My skill is popular around the world. I want to know if it's worth creating region specific lambdas just for latency. Currently I can get timing of the lambda itself but that doesn't include the alexa to/from lambda time.

  3. I have a sport skill. I want to offer a subscription for the season. 99 cents for a month is too steep and 99 cents for a year is awkward, I'd like to specify n months.

  4. Allow a progressive response to an APL button press. Currently this gives a "progress not allowed here" message. If you're using APL then a button press could easily result in some processing before the next APL screen is ready.

  5. I am a totally blind software developer and I want to learn how to develop Alexa skills. On the developer console when I go to create a new skill and enter the initial information about it, there is a visual only CAPTCHA to resolve before I can create the skill. I can't see the images so can't complete this CAPTCHA. Other CAPTCHAs I've found on Amazon have an audio option which is very good.

Can we have an audio alternative on the CAPTCHA please when creating a new skill. Better still, maybe no CAPTCHA at all. After all, whoever is…

  6. Allow skills to be context sensitive based on the setting/location of the given alexa device.

For example, if you have an echo dot in each bedroom of a 3 bedroom house, it would be a lot more intuitive to be able to walk into the bedroom and say "Alexa, turn on the lights" - with the context being associated with the echo dot in that room - inferring just the lights in that room, not all lights in the house.

In addition, you'd still have the traditional tagging such that from elsewhere you would have to provide context - so…

  8. Would be great if SmartHome's Alexa.TemperatureSensor interface is supported as a routine trigger (not the Echo's one but the generic one)

  9. Hello, I would like to request support for brazilian portuguese in the modeController API. I'm currently integrating alexa to my smart home product, and I have a garage door opener, and it'd be great if alexa had a support in pt-br for this kind of device.

  12. There is a large community of users of e.g. Node Red and such systems as Home Assistant who benefit dramatically for something between the simplistic Blueprints and the large scsle complexity of skill development. These people are an open source community, not interested in monetisation. Using an AWS server is expensive, and alternatives involve risky port opening, and a home server available to all.
It would be great to have a category of private skill, for running on a home server, just for that individual's home and family, which could be shared on e.g. github and improved that way. If…

  13. It would be useful to have a skill in which to define voice activation commands and the relative URLs to call.
For example, if I say "Alexa, do this thing" a custom HTTP call is made (eg http://192.168.1.46/roller/0?go=Stop)
This way there is the possibility of piloting any device that supports HTTP calls.

  14. I know this has been noted ad nauseam, but I would like to request that there is a way to turn Alexa's announcement that it is connected to my computer each time it wakes up. I bought a new system, and instead of having a multitude of wires attached to it for speakers, I found that I could use my device as a Bluetooth speaker. I have my Echo set up will full volume, and I adjust levels with my computer. As a result, I get full blast "Alexa is connected to user's Mac Pro." It's quite irritating.

    I was…

  16. it would be interesting to have the possibility to activate a skill by pressing a button from an app or by pressing a link on a website.

    Here is an example scenario.

The skil "Magnitudine Assoluta" (amzn1.ask.skill.27a6febc-be8c-46ad-94a8-3211d12d87ad) satisfies the user's requests by searching on the website www.magnitudine-assoluta.it the topics desired by the user.

But if the user is comfortably lying on the sofa with the phone in his hand and is browsing the site, he could find an article, understand that he is interested and press a link "Listen with Alexa", which somehow activates an intent of the skill on…

  17. Allow the sunset trigger to be offset by more than 60 minutes, similar to other platforms which allow greater control. Today I have to use a 3rd party to complete a task at sunset minus 90 and can only use Alexa at sunset minus 60. I'd prefer to keep this completely within Alexa.

  19. I have a relative who is disabled and needs a way to mute her tv, when a call comes in on Alexa. Would be helpful to allow for triggering external events upon call start/stop, or allow ability to execute skills during a call.

By the way, Music Skills API works great for english speakers in the USA!
