  1. Alexa, did the power go out today?

She can't tell me how long she has been on, when she last rebooted, I want to know if the power tripped, and ideally how long it was out.

  3. Blog blueprint for non-WordPress blogs?

How about a Blog blueprint for sites other than WordPress blogs? Why not any text-based RSS feed? (Blogger, for instance.)

  5. Standalone Wearable

We already have Amazon Dash Wand. Why not miniaturized it into a wearable like a fitness tracker (without the barcode scanner) so that we can have a standalone wearable with built-in Alexa? That way we can talk to Alexa wherever we are as long it is connected to the internet via WiFi (just like the Amazon Dash Wand).

  6. Alexa for Business - "Assignable default skill" and "invoke by Echo button"

Lets let Alexa for Business users assign a single skill which can be invoked via Echo button.

    These use cases are:

    * Retail for product display information
    * Museum Exhibits
    * Information Kiosks
    * Logistical scenarios where the Alexa device cannot be in physical contact with the end user.
    * Especially critical for high noise environments such as where many people are already speaking ie, inside a visitor center location.

The device id already is distinguished inside the setup of AFB and skills can selectively supply information *as appropriate

  7. Provide an endpoint to test the voice model

Currently, there is no way to accurately do automated testing of how user audio resolves (in terms of intents and slots) for a given skill.

At present, this testing is more-or-less done manually. There are several use cases where automation would be vitally important. Given:

-When testing a large skill, it is extremely cumbersome to manually test a wide array of sample utterances for every change we make to the voice model. This discourages iterative design.
-The overall Alexa voice model is constantly shifting. This is a good thing, but often this results in changes to how our skills launch…

  8. Follow up email to assist account linking completion

    Request:
Amazon to send a follow-up email to users who used a skill that invoked account linking option so that they can complete the account linking from an email link instead of just in the Alexa phone app.

The current process is too disjointed. The user has to break off their voice session in order to fiddle about on the Alexa app. Conversion of account linking is terrible.

With this request implemented the user would be reminded about account linking at a later date via their email and could complete it whilst in a mode that is more appropriate to…

  9. Allow users to interrupt apps and call appropriate callback

Allow developers to be able to define callbacks for user interruptions.

At the moment, as soon as Alexa start responding to the user, he must listen to the full response or quit the app.
There's no option to suppress current response and stay in the app.

    Consider an example:
Alexa: I found three news articles related to your query. Article #1: [title of the article] Article #2: [title of the article] Article #3: [title of the article]

Assume that the app allows the user to then listen to the full article. He needs to wait for the full message to…

  10. If you call your Alexa design language APL (Alexa Presentation Language), it will be very confusing.

If you call your Alexa design language APL (Alexa Presentation Language), it will be very confusing. APL is A Programming Language, a popular array oriented language implemented by IBM, Dyalog, and many others. It has been around since the early 1960s. Look up APL programming language on the web and you'll see. Can I suggest AVL (Alexa Voice Language)?

  11. Enable Alexa of initiating aconversation

The idea is to enable Alexa of initiating a conversation, rather than just responding to inquiries. Some applications, such as using Alexa to interact with an autistic child, require that Alexa starts the conversation in some cases. Giving Alexa this ability may open the door for new and out of the box solutions.

  12. Alexa smart home skills with Mode.Controller need to be able to query current mode.

I am creating a smart home skill with the Mode.Controller. There needs to be a way to query what the mode is set to with voice. I see it in my alexa.amazon.com page showing the DeepQuery. But with voice the only response I get is I'm not quite sure what went wrong.. This would greatly help the user experience.

  14. Have Alexa be able to spell certain words in commands through the Alexa App

Go ahead and try to get Alexa to play "Cantos Profane" by Richard Band. Or get it to call my friend Viktyr (No, I don't have any friends named Victor". Some things just require spelling, and Alexa does not accept spelling words out.

  15. Ability to ask about currently executing skill

Ability to ask Alexa what skill it is/was currently executing.

I test skills through a combination of ngrok, the skill's backend log and my Alexa device. So I should see everything. Sometimes Alexa seems to lose contact with my skill. It would be nice to ask Alexa about what skill it thinks it is running.

  16. Privilege Last Used Skill in Follow Up Mode (when relevant)

In follow up mode, Alexa continues to listen for a while after the skill closed (session is ended) and detects if there's a relevant follow up request for the user. This is designed to relieve the user from having to say, "Alexa....."

It's logical to assume that if the user makes a request in follow-up mode that can be handled by the previous skill (e.g., they ask for another stock price fact after having just used 'my great stock price skill', they would expect that skill to return the response.

This is not how it works now. Even the the…

  17. Fire TV Sleep Mode or Timer

Allow Alexa to turn on sleep mode or countdown to sleepmode on Fire TV devices via voice command. I would like to be able to set routines, and give the command and my lights would shut off, my FireTV would go into sleep mode (or start timer).

  18. Alexa should know my birthday from my profile.

Alexa knows my name and address and other info. But when asked about my birthday or age, she has no idea. Such info is part of my account information. She should be able to call that info up and also be ready to wish me a Happy Birthday.

  19. SSML - Interpret As character - Doesn't respect case

Interpret-as tag allows you to have the device speak characters, numbers, addresses, etc.

One thing I noticed however is it doesn't respect case. I was wondering if something can perhaps be added to address this? If you echo out the below ssml you will just get a-b-t-h back. Ideally it would say Capital A, lowercase b, Capital T, lowercase h. I have a skill that echos back password values that are generated with different case. Right now I have to pass this into a function and do this mapping on my own, would be nice if it was something built…

  20. Intent and Interface: AMAZON.ExtendedHoldIntent & Audio Recorder Interface

Creation of an "AMAZON.ExtendedHoldIntent" type intent.

To the user, the device clearly indicates to be in a waiting state by graying out or blanking the screen.
A mauve to white to mauve triangle wave flashes on the hardware LED(s) as the indicator.
"(wake work +), I'm back / okay / continue etc." re-triggers the previous speech directive and prompt etc.
    AWS modifies the Lambda’s context.
The Alexa Skill triggers the lambda with previous attributes and is not a new session.
Amazon decides how best to handle the Lambda compute use time increase, or which maximums are allowable.

    Creation of a…
